The Institute of Sociology of the Czech Academy of Sciences (IS CAS) is a scientific research institution that develops sociological theories and methodologies of contemporary sociological research. It conducts cross-sectional and repeated empirical surveys, comparative research, case studies, probes and public opinion polls. It uses modern research methods, both quantitative and qualitative, and also takes advantage of knowledge, approaches and methods of related disciplines, such as economics, political science, law, demography, social geography and gender studies. IS CAS also supports and develops independent public opinion research and archiving of quantitative and qualitative data.

The Institute of Criminology and Social Prevention (ICSP) is a research organization in the field of justice. It deals with a criminological research based on an interdisciplinary approach. The founder of the Institute is the Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic, which approves the plan of research tasks. The specific position of the ICPS is given by the fact that it is the only specialized institution systematically developing criminological research in the Czech Republic. The main goal of its activities is to contribute to the implementation of quality legislation and formulation of criminal and sanction policy aimed at more effective crime control through theoretical, analytical as well as publishing reserach activities.

IKSP

The Institute of Psychology of the Czech Academy of Sciences (IP CAS) is a scientific research institution whose employees focus on research in the field of personality psychology, social psychology and cognitive psychology. The headquarters of the IP CAS is in Brno, while approximately half of the staff works in Prague, where there is also a library providing services to the student and professional public.
