Long-term scientific project that examined people´s lives after release from prison in order to better understand their needs and make it easier for them to reintegrate into the society.
The aim of the project was to enhance the effectiveness of tools and strategies in criminal policy that lead to a reduction in reoffending. The research goal was to identify individual and social factors that significantly contribute to desistance. Based on these findings, specific measures applicable in the practical work of institutions within the Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic – namely the Probation and Mediation Service and the Prison Service of the Czech Republic – were recommended
The implementation of the project contributed to:
- Enhancing the effectiveness of treatments for clients under probation supervision by the Probation and Mediation Service (PMS).
- Improving the effectiveness of interventions for individuals serving prison sentences.
- Diverting offenders from further criminal activities and facilitating their successful reintegration into society.
This project received co-financing through state support from the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic under the ÉTA 3 Program. The implementation occurred during the years 2020 to 2023.
The Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic served as the application guarantor, overseeing the project.
